Іn the National Institute for Strategic Studies the II Meeting of the Expert Council was held, dealing with issues of migration policy of the NISS

On July 5, 2019 in the National Institute for Strategic Studies the II Meeting of the Expert Council was held, dealing with issues of migration policy of the NISS.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Volodymyr Yurchenko, the member of the Expert Council, who holds positions of deputy director of the Department, and of Head of information-analytical support and cooperation with local agencies of the State Migration Service of Ukraine.

The members of the Expert Council discussed common proposals on a new edition of the action plan 2018-2021 considering realization of the Strategy for state migration policy of Ukraine for the time period till 2025.

During the meeting there was also a discussion of the draft legislation on introduction of amendments to several legislative acts of Ukraine concerning state protection of labor migrants № 10383 from 18.06.2019.

General information

The Expert Council for migration policy issues was created in accordance with the order of the National Institute for Strategic Studies, and acts in accordance with its current regulation.

The chief tasks of the Expert Council are:

  • Discussing issues in the field of migration policy, detection of threats to national security that occur in the relevant field, identification of priority ways of their minimization, and development of practical actions in migration policy field;
  • Processing of the offers introduced by experts, and formation of coordinated position on the preparation of scientifically grounded recommendations for the President of Ukraine, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the Cabinet of the Ministers of Ukraine, individual ministers, and other public authorities concerning ways of problem-solving in the field of migration policy;
  • Providing expert analysis for proposals of strategic and policy documents of the state and legal acts concerning relevant issues.
