Key Challenges for the Agricultural Sector and Main Tasks of the State Agrarian Policy for 2025

Despite the relative adaptation of the Ukrainian agrarian sector to functioning in war conditions, the key challenges and limitations in 2025 will be the following.

The deepening problem of labour shortage in agricultural production, the loss of part of land resources and deterioration of their qualitative condition, and the destruction of production potential will remain key problems of the agrarian sector of Ukraine this year, covering the areas of production, processing and logistics. In addition, costs will increase. Agriculture will face added challenges due to the hryvnia's devaluation, leading to higher costs for imported resources. Moreover, a labour shortage will force businesses to raise wages to keep skilled workers. Given this, the main tasks of the state agrarian policy in 2025 should be to ensure the resilience of agricultural manufacturers improve their financial status, create capacity to function in the conditions of climate change and adapt to the EU agricultural policy. At the same time, such a policy should be balanced, and adaptive to changes related to global markets, all institutional changes should be discussed with the expert community and due to the interests of manufacturers and consumers.
