Priorities for Enhancing European Competitiveness - Strategic Guidelines for Ukraine

The intensification of competition in global markets necessitates a systematic analysis of the growing economic, technological, and political disparities between major global centers of influence. As individual players increasingly leverage their economic and technological potential to pursue political objectives on the world stage, understanding these challenges and setting strategic development priorities for nations becomes crucial. The energy sector’s potential, technological development level, and investment attractiveness have always been and remain key factors shaping a country’s influence on the global stage.

The European Union recognizes the current and future challenges to the sustainable development of its community as one of the global centers of influence. Efforts to address these challenges are being explored through various formats. One such initiative is the report by Mario Draghi, former President of the European Central Bank and former Prime Minister of Italy, titled “The Future of European Competitiveness”. The report examines the issues facing the EU economy, including its gradual lag behind other centers of economic and technological influence, and offers recommendations for long-term strategic priorities to stimulate the EU’s development.

The priorities outlined in M. Draghi’s report, particularly considering the importance of a competitive energy sector for both the EU and Ukraine, provide valuable insights and guidelines for Ukraine’s energy sector strategic development planning.
